BIOGRAPHY / BACKGROUND -
Edward Leonard Ellis was born into a low-income family in Manchester, England and endured bullying, brutality, and abuse as a young boy. When he was 15, Ellis abandoned his rage by seeking love in therapeutic writing. He soon earned entry to one of UK's most prestigious universities and studied literature and writing. After graduating, Ellis suffered from depression after experiencing unemployment and a lack of success. Ellis, being a long time wrestling fan, sought the advice and coaching of a local wrestling trainer who had taken an interest in Ellis' writing. Much like his prose, Ellis was a natural at being a professional wrestling. He was endowed with an inherent strength and a respect for old-fashioned technique. Within months of concluding his initial training, Ellis was booked all over the world including Mexico and Japan. It was on the road that Ellis was able to produce one of the world's greatest literary contributions, "Body Slam Poetry". Body Slam Poetry topped nearly every best seller's list and was met with critical acclaim for it's humorous and raw perspective on the life of an entertainer. Ellis has published many novels, short stories, and poems since, but none have achieved the acclaim of Body Slam Poetry. In 2017, Ellis was nominated by the Academy Awards for his screenplay adaptation of Body Slam Poetry, but ironically lost to another professional wrestler's screenplay: El Hijo de Pollo's "The Bucket of Life". In 2019, Ellis made a vow to return full-time as a professional wrestler to seek the success that he found earlier with writing.
