Here we stand or here we fall...
History don't care at all
History don't care at all
A glimmer of light shines down from a Street Lamp outside of the hotel in Thunder Bay silhouette of Jan van der Roost stands bathed the dim light. The sound of metal tapping against the edge of the curb echoes around the area
Does this look familiar? I'm sure a few people recognize this. I know that one does and I know that one remembers it very fondly. Unfortunately for him, the fond memories about to be wiped from his consciousness. Jacob Hammerstein, you have changed. This is not the same Hammerstein I remember in the locker room at Fight One. It is not the same Hammerstein I remember seeing fight in other places. No, this is a very dangerous Hammerstein, a very malicious Hammerstein. But one does not just become dangerous or malicious without losing a piece of themselves. And I feel for Holly, the lovely Mrs. Hammerstein, because the Hammy that she once knew and loved or fell in love with, is about to become no more because of this malicious and dangerous Hammerstein.
Jan continues to tap the chair against the curb, causing the sound of metal and concrete to echo continuously.
See Jacob, you tried to take the shortcut and beat Anna with that chair but I wouldn't allow it. And then you use the same chair to keep me from taking out Anna with, not One...
Van der Roost slams the chair on the curb, with a loud BANG heard echoing down the alley
not Two...
Another loud BANG is heard echoing down the alley
but Three chair shots... yet I nearly beat Anna.
A third BANG is heard echoing down the alley
Then you put me in Hospital before you were taken away for a nice rest. You could not get the job done against Anna without help. You could not get the job done without help from a chair, attacking me when I faced Anna and you still didn't get it done. And you STILL could not get the job done one on one.
Jan holds up the dented chair into the light.
See I will not need this… It is just a reminder that you could not get the job done then or now. And Everyone will see what happens as we wait for the Hammer to Fall.
He looks at the chair, slowly unfolds it and sits on the curb beside of it.
And Now...I have to make sure that the Hammer does not fall as I wanted.
Jan slowly shakes his head.
Because this week, it’s the Hammer and the Rooster taking on Talia and Blaise. My first opportunity to go against Ms. Areano and Ms Faders, I do not plan to go 0 and 2 this week. This is all just a lead up though. The match means momentum and bragging rights, but the prize, the real prize, awaits 15 feet up in Toronto. The Pollo Estrel Medal will be on the line. Friends are foes. Foes are friends. And only one thing matters- be the first one up the ladder to take the Pollo Estrel Medal.
He stands up, looking straight ahead as the streetlight shines down upon him.
Talia, Blaise, each of you are formidable. Talia, a former champion, Blaise, a talented competitor. And I already know, first-hand, how Hammerstein can be. It will be up to me to direct his focus, and between his ‘mean streak’ plus my technical skills and fortitude, we will be more than a match for the two of you. I do not have to like him or any of you. I just simply have to do my best and earn that all-important win as a team… which will be that first step up on the rungs of the ladder as we head to The Bucking Finale. It is not the desired scenario to be in, having to rely on another in a tag match, just for a little bit of Old Mo’, but for this week. It is the Best Case Scenario.
Jan folds up the chair and sighs looking into the light above
But the fight…. The fight for the Pollo Estrel medal.. It is not over… None of this is over… And will not be til Toronto. I will see everyone on Sunday… and That’s the Way It Is.
The light goes out.
