AJ stepped into the Pollo hall where it all started. Pollomania a place without which there would be no Lion's Road. A place without which AJ would still be a complete unknown rookie. A place he never got the chance to step in the ring for before it's untimely closure. Until now.
While his future was in limbo right now given there was no telling what Eli would do about AJ helping Hammerstein DDT him, he might not even have a next match. The only reason he has this one is because the contract was signed before that happened, and with his contract to Buck U Productions Eli could pull him from Lions Road at any time, and unfortunately that seemed to be the most likely outcome.
But that was later, this is now. And now he stood across the ring from Jason Orion and Owl Man. In truth Orion was somebody of whom AJ was a big fan. His wars with Tiger Mask Red were actually what drew AJ into the Polloverse, so it was unbelievable that he would soon be standing across the ring from him. The irony of the fact he was standing across the ring from the former greatest enemy of Eli when just last week he'd probably entered that category himself. In truth Orion was one of the biggest stars in the history of the Polloverse, there was a time that he would frequently wrestle 2 matches a night and still come out the winner and the champion. Without a doubt he would have no easy task ahead of him to defeat the great Jason Orion.
Then there was Owlman a man who had grown so much from the last time since he had seen him, he went from a side show act and a joke, to a hot talent and a champion. In a way it was something to which AJ could relate, the two had a similar path. AJ had gone from a complete unknown to in the last two weeks becoming one of the most popular stars in Lions Road with a near title victory against Julian Cutlass, and then by his betrayal of the Red Army. There was just on difference between he and Owlman...
Owlman has been a champion, while somehow that was the one thing that had eluded AJ no matter how close he would seem to come it was always just out of reach.
It was maddening to him that no matter how close he had come it always seemed to elude him. In some ways it made him respect him more that for all the hard work he had put in that Owlman had made it to the top and he was excited to share the ring with him.
He also found himself in the familiar position of teaming with Ben Crenshaw, although he hadn't spoken to Ben since last week. The last words he'd spoken to him were ringing in AJ's ears. "It's kill or be killed..."
Who knew what the next few weeks held for him, as far as he knew this would be the last time AJ would step into the ring...
Except... No he wouldn't let it be. Some way or another he would find a way to defeat the Everyday Heroes, and if necessary he would find a way to do what Orion never could. And stop Eli once and for all!
