The latest video on the Pollomania website stars one El Vainillo, Number One Contender to the Pollomania Supremo Championship. The fan-favourite's body language and tone are, however, far more serious than usual as he begins:
'Everyone know I no have merry Christmas and happy New Year. Starting December, only one time losing, and one belt...then wins another...but then everything goes wrong. First loses singles title, then in Young Guns Cup, then parejas title. In just two months, am having nothing.
But then...'
...then coming back to Pollomania, and is like everything okay. Peoples telling me am great. Kids coming up wanting signing, photo, wanting I beat Tiger Mask Red and become new Supremo CampeĆ³n! At Pollomania, still being big deal.
Then, Tiger Mask sees peoples on my side, starts playing head game. But what he don't know is that mind long gone. Mind games no work, because mind no there no more. So is trying make afraid. Of him, of friends, even of crowd. But don't work neither, because heart already broken. No can make worse.'
Vainillo shakes his head forlornly.
'Tiger Mask...you know what is being like to lose everything? No just lucha, no just belt. Confidence. Hope. You know what is being like, losing those? No! 'Cause when you are losing, always something else to fight for. Other belt. Other rival. You never with no more solutions. No more chances. No more NOTHING!'
The luchador chokes up for a second, and takes a moment to recover before continuing:
'Tiger...for me...this is being it, man. Last chance. If no win Supremo belt at Poutines and Planchas, nothing left of career no more.'
Another pause, as Vainillo raises a clenched fist to the camera.
'See, Tiger Mask...in lucha, peoples is always trying winning belts. Is nothing new. But normally, is because belt looks nice, or want to be big hotshot of companies. For me, is being different. Fight in Montreal is to save myself. To save career. And Tigre...I tell you...you never seen no one like me.'
The fist turns into a pointing finger, as the luchador's tone increases in intensity:
'So Tiger...on February 24...is doing whatever, man. Telling friends make hurt me. Telling referee make bad counts. Telling crowd boo. No matter. On February 24, is not being about crowd, or mind game. Is being about you, me, and thing that maybe saving my career. And Tiger...no matter what what saying...no matter what doing...no stopping me. No matter what throwing at me, I keeping coming, and coming, and coming, until has Supremo Championship. Is having to. Is no other option. No other way.'
The luchador takes a step towards the camera, a fire now burning in his eyes.
'Tiger...at Poutines and Planchas...is being do or die.
And El Vainillo ain't dying.'
With this, the Number One Contender steps off-camera, leaving the video to wrap itself up to the sound of The Ramones:
'...guess I'll have to break the news, that I got no mind to lose...'
