(Scene: Dark room. A spotlight shines down and we see El Tigre de Jengibre’s mask lying in the middle of the floor. From the shadows we hear him begin to speak, his voice unusually calm.)
“On October 7th, in El Paso, Texas, I face Zookeeper Willie by myself. Charlie, Holly and Brute are banned from the building. This “Artificially Intelligent Pollo“ computer program wants to keep our match free of “the same shenanigans that hampered the Three Cup Chicken trios tournament”. My question is, what makes you think I need them to win?”
(The spotlight turns off, only for a second one to turn on to reveal a large trophy.)
“In 2011 I moved to Japan to learn to wrestle. I entered the BATTLE Japan dojo and worked my ass off. I did everything my sensei told me to and within 6 months I had my first match. For two years I fought everyone that was put before me. There were morning I would be too sore to get out of bed after the match I had the previous night and yet I would drag myself up and do it all over again. In time I gained the respect of both my colleagues, as well as the fans. Then in 2014 I did something that no “gaijin” had ever done in BATTLE; I outlasted 31 other men to win their Young Lions Cup tournament.
“Willy, when I told Nirvana that he would have kill me before I would let him beat me, I meant it. When I said that I would keep coming, even if he broke every bone in my body, I meant it. To win the Young Lions Cup tournament, I put my mind, body and soul through agony that I didn’t think I could endure. In the end, after I managed to pin my final opponent, I couldn’t even stand up because my leg was broken and I had lost more blood than a person supposed should be safely able to do. I had fought the pain, fought through the dizziness; nothing was going to stop me.
“Then my father, who hadn’t cared at all about my wrestling career, sent two of this Mexican goons to steal this from me. That, though, is a story for another time.”
(The spotlight turns off. El Tigre continues talking in the darkness.)
“Why do I tell you this, Willy? It’s simple, no one in Pollomania has seen how far I’ve been tested yet. Up to this point I’ve been satisfied with messing with people’s minds and relying on my comrades to help me. Now I’m on my own and everyone is about to find out what I’m really made of. I know my limits, Willy. Do you?”
(The lights come on and El Tigre is directly in front of the camera, his mask back on, laughing manically)
“Willy, you above everyone else should know you don’t confront a cornered animal. RUN LITTLE SHEEP! THE TIGER’S ON THE HUNT!”
