The low murmuring of conversation woke up Charlotte O’Neal. Rolling over, she looked grabbed her phone and checked the time; 2:17 am. Cursing, she sat up in bed and looked beside her. It came as no surprise to her that the spot beside her was vacant.
Getting up, she walked into the living room. Sitting on the couch was her husband and sister-in-law, better known to the wrestling world as Tiger Mask Red and Holly Guacamole. They were hovering over his laptop computer watching a video.
“Please tell me you two aren’t watching the Pollo Playhouse Match again,” she asked as she strolled over and sat down beside her husband.
Tiger sat back and threw an arm around her.
“No, we’re studying footage of all Zargnax’s matches since he joined Pollomania,” he replied.
The couple’s Chihuahuas wandered out of the bedroom, looking for someone to smuggle with. Charlotte picked Chiana and placed her on her lap, while D'Argo jumped up on Holly's lap and immediately fell asleep.
"We looked over all those matches a dozen times while we prepared for matches against him in the Tag Grand Prix," Charlotte asked as she stroked her dog's head, "and Holly and Brute still weren't able to win. What are you expecting to find that we missed?"
Tiger closed his eyes and rubbed the bridge of his nose.
"Honestly, I'm not sure," he admitted, "but there's not enough footage on Algie to form a good battle plan for her. She's only wrestled three times that I can find, but she's proven to be the difference maker in all of them."
"I still don't think it's fair that he got to chose new tag team partners twice during the Grand Prix," Holly chimed in, "We should never had to face him in that match to begin with."
Tiger laughed and reached out to ruffle his sister's hair.
"Nothing's that easy around here, Holly Bear," he told her, "While I doubt it, AIPollo probably would have let you pick a new partner as well if Brute wasn't able to compete."
Holly slid over and snuggled up against her brother's side and put her head on his shoulder.
"Too bad I couldn’t have picked you," she said, "I know we could have won that match if you had been in it."
"Yeah, maybe," he replied, "There's nothing we can do to change that now, but maybe we can beat them this time."
"So," Charlotte asked, as she laid her head on his other shoulder, "What's the plan?"
Tiger let out a loud sigh and shrugged his shoulders. This caused the dogs to both look up at their "Daddy" and whine. He simply pets them both on the head and continued to stare at the computer screen.
"We need to isolate Zargnax from his corner," he finally said, "Like I said, we've got a better chance of winning this is if we keep Algie out of the match and concentrate on Zargnax. Hopefully we can use her inexperience and temper against her, while we pull out every trick in the book and use Brute and Ant to run interference for us; and maybe we try that idea that Al Nova was babbling about last year and go for Zargnax's "weak spot", somewhere on his chest. Apparently it's the easiest way to defeat a member of his race, so maybe we need to try that new high flying double team move that we've been practicing."
"And if that doesn't work," Charlotte asked.
"Then we drop one of them on their fucking head with a Great Canadian Driver and hope we break their neck," Holly replied.
Both Tiger and Charlotte looked at her in mild shock. After a moment, Tiger starts laughing.
"Holly, has anyone ever told you that you sound too much like Dad sometimes?"
Holly giggled and hugged D'Argo to her chest.
"Thanks Tiggie!"
