A shaken James Edwards walks to the podium dressed in gym shorts and a faded Julian Cutlass t-shirt, of all things.
James Edwards Sorry, I ain't exactly dressed for one of these things, but I asked Sebastion if I could go first.
He grips the podium and takes a deep breath.
James Edwards I didn't set out to hurt anybody tonight. I wanted this fight to be fun. Just me and Jeremy going out there and helpin' each other get better. Then that stupid kick happened...
The veteran fight journalists in attendance don't pounce, at least initially. Memories of the Johnny Ajax incident run through James' head, and they know it, but they have a job to do. A reporter raises his hand to ask a question, and James waves him off.
James Edwards It was an accident. That's all I can say. I have no clue if he's alright or not. I got run outta the ring before I could find out. Sebastian, do you know anything?
Krull shakes his head.
James Edwards Just let me know, aight'.
Krull points back to the press. James nods.
James Edwards I know y'all wanna know what happened with A.J. and I can't tell you. That was his guy on the canvas. He was concerned and pissed at me, I guess. I ain't gonna hold it against him and hope he realizes what happened wasn't on purpose.
James Edwards I mean, I wanna' make it up to Jeremy. If he wants a rematch, all he has to do is ask. I'll even agree to a stipulation of no kicks to the head if he wants. Anyway, y'all have a good night and a safe trip home. Thanks for coming out.
After James Edwards appearance, the crowd dies down a bit. Waiting on the next speaker and out comes Jason Cashe. He was eating a metal dog bowl full of Gritz as he approached the podium. There, he takes one big bite and swirls it around in his mouth. Savoring the flavors far more than needed.
"We won. Thank you for coming.."
He leaves, again eating from the metal dog bowl in his hand.
AJ comes out not looking especially pleased with the outcome of the night.
AJ Knight: Before we get started, I want to let you guys know that Jeremy is okay. They're checking him for a concussion, they're working on closing the cut up but he is awake and talking to people. I'm going to be heading over to visit him once I'm done here. Now do we have any questions?
A hand goes up;
"Do you feel any responsibility for what happened to Jeremy Squire, given that it's been said that you had a hand in making this match?"
AJ looks pleasantly surprised that this reporter avoided the obvious elephant in the room.
AJ Knight: Look, when I decided to take Jeremy Squire under my wing, I told him that I would teach him how to win. Well this is the way I learned, I got thrown into the deep end, and I had to learn how to wrestle against the best in the world, and that's exactly what James Edwards is. Did he win? No, but did any of you ever expect the guy to last 5 minutes with James Edwards, let alone have him in trouble at times? He did good tonight. He's got a long way to go but I'm proud of what he did here tonight.
Any other questions?
AJ's question looms heavy as all the reporters, wait to see who will address the elephant in the room.
ISM Office: I missed these colours.
